What do I get with my account?

Site-Host has a plan to fit all budgets and requirements. Can Site-Host register my domain name for me?

You can register your domain with InterNIC for $70 for 2 years, or have us register your domain for $30 for the same 2 years. You can register your domain automatically in the order form.

When Site-Host registers your domain, you are the owner of your Domain name. Site-Host is listed as the Technical Contact. This is in case any technical issues may arise and someone needs to contact us.

Unlike many host providers, we can also provide you with a sub domain (http://yourname.Site-Host.com). With this type of account, there's no registration fees. A great alternative for those on a budget.

How much disk space do I get for my web pages and graphics?

What are FrontPage extensions and do you support them?

If you use Microsoft FrontPage 98 or FrontPage 2000 to publish pages to the net, you will need FrontPage extensions supported. If you have an account that offers this feature you can install the FrontPage Extensions right from your control panel.

Do you offer secure server space for transferring credit card information?

YES! Our servers are equipped with the latest SSL technology so your customers can safely order your products or services online! Normally, any text sent from your browser is sent as plain text. This means that a hacker could potentially intercept the information sent from your browser and read it.

By using the secure server (SSL), the information is encrypted before it is sent. It would be practically impossible for anyone to decrypt it without knowing the key. You will need to have your own certificate. It has become illegal to use a provider's certificate, and the certificate providers and the federal government have been shutting down the hosting companies that do. So be careful when a company boasts: "YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY YOUR OWN CERTIFICATE" because if you don't, you and your business will be left out and hung to dry... not to mention a fine for each transaction you process through this illegal method of secured hosting.

What is a "parked or pointer" domain name and how much does it cost?

Parked domains are aliases of other domains. For example, lets say we have fred.com parked to your main account at anna.com. This would mean that anyone who goes to fred.com would automatically go to anna.com. There is no actual hosting involved with fred.com. fred.com merely acts as a nickname to anna.com. Parked domains are available for free on some accounts and on other a minor fee is charged.

Can I upload pages frequently?

Each account comes with one FTP/Telnet account. You have full access to your space via FTP 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so you can update your site at your leisure.

How much data transfer do you allow for my web site?

Again, this is a feature that varies depending on the type of account you purchase. the range is from a couple of hundred megs enough for 1000's of hits up to 20 gigs or more in monthly transfers... enough for billions of hits. What is a CGI-BIN and do I get one?

A CGI-BIN is where you would store CGI scripts. These scripts; are used to generate online order forms, guestbooks, shopping carts, counters, and more! Selected accounts come with a local CGI-BIN. What CGI scripts come already installed?

Scripts inclusion varies from package to package and include the following scripts: a hit counter, a search engine, a site creation tool, a form emailer, and a file manager. If you are interested in adding more CGI scripts to your account, you may do so in. You will find a list of 1000's of various CGI scripts at CGI-Resources. What is the Account Control Panel?

The control panel is a standard feature of every account. It gives you the capability to manage all aspects of your account in order to make the best use of your options. By the click of a mouse, you can administer your webspace, your email accounts, your directories, your cgi-bin, and all the special features that we offer you, such as site statistics and shopping carts. You can even add additional features to your account right when you need them. What are autoresponders/infobots and how many do I get?

Whether you are responding to the same type of e-mail on a daily basis or you would just like to add an automatic response to e-mails sent to a specific email address, you can accomplish such a task using the "autoresponder". An autoresponder will send a standard response e-mail message (based on a text file you specify) to anyone who sends an e-mail to a specific e-mail address (which you specify) at your domain. Each of our hosting plans allow you to set up a specific number of autoresponders for free.

What are email aliases and how many can I use?

Email aliases are email addresses that you make up. Any mail sent to these aliases would automatically be forwarded to an existing POP email account (which you specify) or redirected to another third party POP account (which you specify).

What about the Traffic Statistical Software?

Traffic analysis software comes pre-installed with every web hosting account! We use HTTP-Analyze and it is very easy to access.

What about Technical Support?

We provide web hosting services to many clients and from experience we have found that handling support request via a Trouble Ticket System to be to our clients greatest advantage. We answer all Tickets on the same day it is received - most often within a few minutes.

We have implemented an Online Support Manual to help you with all aspects of your web hosting account as well as an Online Support Forum. In the event your are experiencing server difficulties outside the scope of the Manual & Forum you can contact Technical Support live with the Live Chat feature found on just about every page of our site. What kind of technical support do you NOT provide?

We do NOT provide any technical support relating to HTML syntax (web site design & management), Java programming, JavaScripting, any 3rd party software including technical issues with FrontPage, CGI programming, or CGI scripts, nor any other non-network related aspect. In the event that you submit a ticket pertaining to any of the above, it is likely that you WILL NOT receive a response!
